Joseph Spiteri (born 20 May 1959) is a Maltese archbishop who since 2013 has been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Côte d'Ivoire. Spiteri was born in Sliema Malta on May 20, 1959. His father was Nestru Spiteri. Though born in Sliema Spiteri lived in Luqa.〔("Arcisqof Joseph Spiteri" ), Ghaqda Muzikali Sant'Andrija Hal Luqa, Malta. Retrieved on 24 March 2014.〕 He joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1988 and has served in Panama, Iraq, Mexico, Portugal, Greece and Venezuela. In 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as the Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka and Titular Archbishop of Serta.
